Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

If you are a diabetic, you should also avoid Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich and Whataburger Patty Melt at Whataburger. Chicken Fajita Taco is also off-limits for diabetics. You must also avoid Breakfast Platter and Pancake Platter from the menu. Pancakes and Cinnamon Roll from the breakfast menu are also off-limits for diabetics.

I rarely give a restaurant or place of business 2 stars but to get 1 star you really have to earn it. I have been here twice & both experiences have not been pleasant. The first time I came here I ordered some food for me & my co-workers. I ordered 14 Whopper Jr's & they gave me 14 bacon cheeseburgers. How do you mix that up? When I pulled up to the window the service was so slow & they asked me to pull back because when you cross a line a timer starts & they didn't want to get in trouble for slow service. I am all about being nice for people & helping them to not get in trouble but the service was very slow & I am also keeping into account the fact that I ordered 14 Whooper Cheeseburgers. It took about 10 minutes total but they brought the food out to my car & besides the fact they gave me the wrong kind of burgers the food was not bad. The second time I came here is what made me decide to give this place one star. I understand sometimes the food can be bad or a restaurant can have a bad day anywhere but when a restaurant tries to rip you off is what really makes me mad. I came here & ordered ten $1.00 cheeseburgers. The man on the speaker told me $16. When I said how is it $16 he told me in a rude voice pull up. I said how is it $16 then he told me no it's $14. I looked at the receipt & he charged me for about 3 items that weren't on the menu. That is absolutely ridiculous. I will never be coming here again. I like Burger King a lot but this place obviously thinks slow service & ripping their customers off is ok. The bad part is the manager or owner probably has no idea that his employees are behaving this way. Over I never give a restaurant 1 star but this place really deserved it.

I've only used the drive-thru at this BK, so my review is based on that experience. The food at this store is on a par with other BK's. However, I have found the wait to go through the Drive Thru to be typically longer than most other Burger King's, hence my 3 star rating. This store is about equidistant to me from the McHenry store where I now go as that store does provide better service at the drive up window.

I know, why a Burger King review? Because this one was SOOO dirty 3/1/13 that I got tired of counting the not so recently stomped fries in the kitchen, and instead watched an employee count the cash drawer and then go handle food, not mine. They did manage to mix up the holds & extra ingredient request on the whoppers, not surprised. I didn't see many customers yet they looked busy in the kitchen and it happens, BUT you still have to go WASH your hands. THIS is NOT your local Burger King for the occasional fast food fix. They also disappear around a corner in the kitchen to run your credit card, yikes. The cut up parking lot is a nightmare, the architect and whoever in BG that approved that plan should be arrested. Don't even think of trying to make a left West out of the parking lot onto Dundee Road, you'll grow old waiting for an opening without an accident with people coming from 53 West and Arlington Heights Road East. The BK on 75 W, NW Highway in Palatine is so much cleaner, faster, safer entry & exit. They even have the increasingly rare outdoor table for nice weather. Good luck.

I hate to waste a Yelp on fast food. But the service was just so bad (again...why do I ever go back?!?)). At the drive-thru, guy took my credit card. Unrelated to my charges, asked him to just confirm he heard Diet Coke from me on the crackly speaker, to which he replied, "Oh, no pop, sorry. Our lines are frozen". I had to catch him to not charge me for it anyway. When he adjusted it, the amount was still off by almost a dollar (keep in mind, it's just a 1.99 pop). The manager's chatting away on the phone in the background while the kid couldn't seem to understand the receipt, waves her down, etc. Finally, not sure what else to do, he tells me I can pull up and come in (I've opted for drive through on a day cold enough to cause a Snow Day off school). The manager seemed to barely understand the discrepancy herself (yes, after I pulled around and walked in). She operated with a permanent smile but no apologies, and generic direction to the website to leave comments. That crack BK training finally paid off for her. Food was meh. Though in fairness, it was colder than if I hadn't had to wait at the window followed by a trip inside (yes, sarcasm in the event the BK folks tune into this stuff). I promise I'll never leave you again, Portillo's, when I'm in that area!

I stopped in to purchase a drink around lunch time. Nearly every spot on the drink machine was empty. No labels, no drinks. The only available drinks were Diet Coke, Coke, Fanta Red, and Dr Pepper. Of those, only the Diet Coke and Fanta were of acceptable quality. The reg Coke had a watered down taste. The Dr Pepper had only carbonated water...no syrup. The ice in the machine was low as well. I asked an employee about the Dr Pepper. He went to the back to check. He said it was completely out of stock and could not be refilled. I didn't check the water dispenser. The condition of the restaurant as a whole was old and shabby. The parking lot was nearly empty. They had no other customers. The only good comment I can make is that the employees were polite. That's the reason for the single star.

Worked overtime and forgot my lunch. 530pm and starving! A double bacon cheeseburger on my mind! Stopped and ordered two. Picked up at window and headed home. First bite killed my appetite. Instead of a hot juicy burger I bit into a dry medium warm hockey puck at best! Without a doubt had to be re-microwaved several times from the lunch crowd! My money down the drain! Have not and will not be back there!!!

Just your average Burger King. I went here today because Very Berry was closed and I really craving a smoothie. I remembered seeing advertisements for the new tropical mango smoothie, so I decided to give it a try! The smoothie was really good. Not too sweet. Just delicious and definitely satisfied my craving. This is not my favorite Burger King because the parking lot is difficult to get to and the drive thru is very narrow. This drive through also seems to take longer than others.

This isn't as much a review as it is a warning for potential eaters. It's kind of gross. Like gross to the point that the McDonald's down the street looks like a five star restaurant (playground attached - so classy). Also, I don't know what's up with the service here, but they're just awful. I used to stop by here after watching a movie at BG, but it doesn't really do much for me anymore. I stopped by to grab some burgers for my brother because we got a coupon book in the mail and I figured, "Hey, why not?" I give this guy a coupon for $9.99 for two Whoppers + fries. Okay, so this guy botches my order and he's all whoops, I don't know how to operate the register. He charges me the normal price and I ask him to call his manager to fix that. He grabs another female coworker instead and she's clueless too. They push some buttons around and she tells me it'll be about $13. I tell her she's wrong because my coupon should lower the price. She says it's higher due to tax. Really? $3 for tax? I'm not stupid and the tax isn't that high. Regardless, I tell her I only brought a $10 bill and some change, so she needs to fix it. She says whatever, and says she'll just take what I have just don't call for the manager. Ugh, I give up. I get my food and go. If you're ordering in the store, make sure they're not charging you incorrectly. Another time, I went to buy a frappe because it just came out and it looked interesting. This female cashier was so confused with my order. I wanted a medium caramel frappe. She punches me in for a small, and I tell her I wanted a medium. She said she didn't know how to change it, so she says she'll just give me it in a medium cup anyway. Cool, I guess. She goes back to make it and I'm watching her fumble around. She comes back and tells me she's not sure how to make it and there's no more iced coffee. Luckily, I didn't fork over my cash yet, so I leave. Then my final incident at BK was that the cashier gave me the wrong change. I paid with a $20 and he forgets to hand me a $10 and the register locks after the transaction. At least he listened to me when I said call your manager. She chides him saying that if he keeps giving people the wrong change, he'll be fired because corporate will think it's suspicious she keeps unlocking the register. I really question their hiring practices. Their smoothies are really nasty. It's thick and tastes strongly of artificial fruit and sugar. I also tried the frappe at another time and it's also grossly thick and sugary. The drinks are literally diabetes in a cup. The whoppers are okay though. The only plus is they're open 24/7. Also, sometimes it smells faintly of vomit. Blargh.
